Reporting information: If the SSN verification reports an SSN as "Valid" or "Active", it means the SSN has likely been issued by the state reported (we provide state in your report), and it has not been reported to the Social Security Death Index or SSN benefits were not paid.

If the SSN reports the SSN as invalid the most likely explanation is that either the SSN is very new or the state has not reported it as issued. If the report shows as valid and inactive it was most likely found in the Social Security Death Index and death benefits may have been paid.
